Tips on How to Take (or choose) the Perfect Photo of your Home

The better your photo, the better your gift!

Choose the right light

Soft, natural light makes all the difference. Early morning or late afternoon is ideal, when the light is warm and gentle. Overcast days are great too, as they avoid harsh shadows.

Step back and straighten up

Take the photo from a little distance so the whole house can be seen comfortably. Keep the camera level to avoid wonky lines – straight walls and roofs always look more polished.

Show the house at its best

Tidy the front or the house first if you’re taking the photo: move bins, cars, or clutter out of the way, and open curtains or blinds. A tidy front garden, or a freshly swept path can really lift the image.

Keep distractions to a minimum

Avoid things that pull attention away from the house, like strong shadows, people in the frame, or clutter.

Use a natural, realistic look

If you’re choosing an existing photo, go for one that feels true to life. A photo with natural colours and a clear, sharp image will always work best.
