The best pet photos happen when everyone’s relaxed and having fun. Try using soft, natural light – near a window or outside works beautifully. Get down to your pet’s eye level for a more personal feel, and focus on their eyes to really capture their expression. Treats and favourite toys are perfect for grabbing their attention, and a little praise goes a long way. Skip the flash and sudden movements, and be patient – those natural, in-the-moment shots are often the best and show off their personality perfectly.

Before the shoot (a little prep goes a long way)

Help them get comfy

Let your pet sniff around the camera and get used to it. A few treats for calm behaviour will help them feel at ease.

Pick the right time

Choose a moment when they’re naturally chilled, like after a nap or a meal.

Find the best light

Natural light is your friend – try a bright window or head outside on a cloudy day. Harsh midday sun is best avoided.
